Auntie & Me Matcha Beauty 2

Owner Annabell Catania Creates Holistic Beauty Products

Tell us about your background.

I was born in Portland Oregon, but spent most of my life in Washington state. I was raised in salons and opened my first one at 19 years old. I have a passion for beauty and body products, and so I created another company in 2008 called Liquid Sunshine which was an Organic Airbrush tanning salon. I wanted to provide a healthier option to tanning and offer an organic spray tan to my community.

At 26 years old, I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. Life came to a halt. I was blindsided. I was living my life one day thinking I was young and healthy. I fought the cancer conventionally at first until the results just weren’t successful, and I opted to quit chemotherapy and start holistic medicine after a radical double mastectomy and full hysterectomy. I went into remission within months of seeing Dr. Conway in Vancouver, Washington and decided I needed to share my story.

I believe my calling is to share with people that they don’t have to be afraid to do their treatment holistically, that there are cures and options that are safe and that work. After spending a lot of time researching and speaking to so many experts, they concluded that my breast cancer actually started in my armpit and was caused by my antiperspirant deodorant.

What is Auntie & Me Match Beauty?

It’s real, raw natural body products. That simple. No more wondering if you are poisoning yourself or your family when you reach for your deodorant or any of our products.

My real passion is to educate people about the dangers of their current body products and help them limit their toxic load, one product at a time. This is why I started Auntie & Me Matcha Beauty. I wanted to share my all-natural recipes of deodorant, detox bath salts, facial toners and wide array of pure essential oil aromatherapy with the world.

How did Auntie & Me come to be?
I was working in the commercial kitchen design and sales world, and even though I loved it, it just wasn’t working for me anymore. So, one day I found myself without a job, and I realized I have a talent. I love to make natural stuff for myself and my loved ones, so why not try making it for everyone? I have perfected my natural deodorant over the years and knew people would love it, but I wanted to share the other beautiful things I could make. So I started buying ingredients, and it all started in my home kitchen. Now we have an office/lab and make everything there. It’s been incredible, the response from our customers.

What kind of products do you provide, and what is your most popular product?

We offer a wide variety of products now, even though we started with the humble deodorant, which is still a customer favorite. We have a great selection of deodorants to choose from as well as facial masks, scrubs and toners, and all-natural bug spray. I’d say our most popular items currently are the therapeutic-grade essential oil rollers and aromatherapy sprays.
