La Jolla Cove

Swim, snorkel and dive all one in place

The most desired spot for swimming, snorkeling and diving is no other than La Jolla Cove. The cove is ecologically protected, and the water is nice and calm. Located right in the La Jolla ecological preserve is a world-renowned diving site. You don’t have to get into the water to enjoy the cove; you can just relax and take in the breath-taking views and get lost in the sound of the waves.

Torrey Pines Hiking Trails

Woods, waves and wildlife

Spend a nice summer day hiking at one of the most iconic spots in town. With a plethora of trails, Torrey Pines State Reserve has some of the best walking and scenic trails as well as one of the most rewarding yet easiest in Southern California.  As you take in the gorgeous vistas while hiking, you may even see a creature or two, as well as the unique Torrey Pine tree itself! Not only can you get a great workout, but if you like plants you can hike the Guy Fleming Trail, which has information on all sorts of plant life in the area.

Children’s Pool Beach

Best viewing for seals and sea lions in town

One of the ultimate summer hot spots to hang out in La Jolla that was initially intended for kids to swim around in is the children’s pool beach that has completely been taken over by harbor seals. In pupping season, the beach is completely covered with the sleeping bodies of sea lions and seals. It’s rather entertaining to watch the young ones frolicking around in the water and then climbing onto the beach and the rocks, and no matter how many times you’ve seen them it never gets old!

Torrey Pines Gliderport

Dare to fly or kick back and enjoy the stunning view

One of the best places to go for a day to remember in La Jolla is the Gliderport. You can watch the paragliders and hang gliders gracefully soar off the cliffs, or if flying high is on your bucket list you can get in on the action and take an introductory tandem or hang gliding flight. Make sure to grab a bite to eat at the Cliffhanger Cafe. They serve up fresh salads, deli sandwiches, soups, baked goods and other treats all day!
