Founded over 45 years ago on the sole mission of making a difference in fund raising to benefit many types of animal charities, Ark Antiques’ focus has continued to flourish, led by second generation owner Elizabeth Hillyer Davidson.
The Ark tag line – Shop. Share. Save Animals. – supports the mission of this La Jolla nonprofit. The community can feel good about shopping here, as their proceeds support animal welfare organizations.
Each year, Ark Antiques awards grants to charities large and small with proceeds from the merchandise sold. This includes over $2.2 million awarded to charities that benefit animals from lions, tigers and bears to turtles, ponies and parrots.
The merchandise here is a blend of all things time treasured. Items donated or consigned are filled with memories of the past and hold promises for the future. The location has a creative feel when you walk in the door, as each item is on display as it would be in your home.
They also recently launched an online store that showcases some of the latest furniture, fine jewelry, china, paintings and prints on sale. Sign up for their newsletter to be the first to see what’s new, as their merchandise sells quickly.
A rotation of animal adoption events are held on Saturdays in front of their store – for current schedule of events visit their Facebook Page on TheArkLaJolla. They also host a two-day sale of miscellaneous items every fourth Friday of the month, and lots of great treasures can be found if you visit.
Consignments and donations are welcome too and you can connect online or in-store to inquire as well as volunteer your time.
