Community Matters

One thing I’ve learned this summer is that La Jolla has a deep-rooted sense of community. A lot of towns and cities say they do but La Jolla walks the walk! With summer winding down, the tourists will slowly fade into the sunset. Our town will once again be ours. We are blessed with our jewel and share it with millions of those that pass through for a sunset shot, to see the cove, to meet the sea lions, to stroll our sidewalks…La Jolla is an international destination yet a collection of neighborhoods that we get to call home.

Each month, La Jolla Lifestyle celebrates community. This month, we spotlight Brett Murphy, who, along with his wife Kera, owns the La Jolla Sports Club. This popular center of our community is not just a place to work out but where locals gather – to talk about what matters, where life is going and to make their footprints on La Jolla for the day. Check out Brett’s favorite things when we join him during the week as he goes about connecting with the community.

Another important part of the fabric of La Jolla is our furry friends. La Jolla’s dogs are featured on page 8 for the La Jolla Veterinary Hospital’s 4th annual Paws for Pints event. We’re proud to also bring back a feature we are making a regular with our La Jolla Unleashed column on page 24.

We’re here to tell your story La Jolla, so if you have an event to promote or cover, let us know. If you have a feature story we should hear about – we’re all ears…send us an email or connect with us on social media. What’s happening in town, schools, local charities and local business is our focus!

Community starts with you – thanks for reading, thanks for engaging, thanks for sharing and thanks for caring about what matters!
