Cosmetic Laser Dermatology Merges with West Dermatology
Cosmetic Laser Dermatology (CLDerm) is a world-renowned dermatology center, off Genesee Avenue in La Jolla, specializing in cosmetic procedures. The practice is comprised of five highly distinguished professionals in the skin care field: Dr. Mitchel P. Goldman, Dr. Kimberly J. Butterwick, Dr. William F. Groff, Dr. Sabrina G. Fabi, and Dr. Douglas C. Wu. At CLDerm, patients receive a variety of the most advanced treatments, including injectables, laser treatments, body contouring and vein treatments. Regular patients at CLDerm continually highlight the exceptional compassion and attention each board-certified dermatologist demonstrates.
A veteran CLD patient of 20 years shares, “I have had all kinds of fillers done and also had moles removed, without any scarring and minimal bruising, so why would I go anywhere else! The staff is friendly and I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes.”
Other patients credit their loyalty to “the warm and welcoming staff and clear expertise and knowledge” of the practicing professionals. Beyond the direct impact of bettering the lives of patients in San Diego, the doctors all maintain an involved presence in the community through various events and foundations. A staff favorite is their engagement with the Challenged Athletes Foundation where they support physically impaired athletes and offer care to the San Diego cycling community when they have cycling accidents.
Dr. Mitchel P. Goldman, founder of CLD and nationally recognized dermatologist and surgeon, has recently decided to expand the current practice to incorporate more medically focused concerns by teaming up with West Dermatology. Although the two practices will operate as separate neighboring clinics, they will work cohesively to provide patients with the best combination of medical and cosmetic care. Current clients of CLD and new clients at West Dermatology will have access to the same aesthetic procedures and treatments, with the additional opportunity of referral for medical conditions and skin defects.
On the intentions of the merge, Dr. Goldman says, “The synergy of care, especially for skin cancer and promotion of research, will help us to continue providing the San Diego community with the most advanced dermatology care possible.”
West Dermatology primarily caters treatments to the individual using the latest technologically advanced equipment and techniques. Medical conditions often examined and subsequently treated include skin cancer, acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, allergies, age spots, hair loss, warts and many more. For each specific condition and client, the highly acclaimed team designs a unique treatment plan, including excisions, laser, topical therapies and numerous others. With West Dermatology right next door, patients experiencing medical issues will not only receive the top care available in the field but also the benefit of specialized dermatologists referring clients in order to provide the most optimal care possible.
Further, the joint practices will now be able to accept medical insurance and the ongoing research will be greatly expanded. CLDerm currently supports ongoing clinical trials pertaining to acne, rosacea, dermatitis, wrinkles, psoriasis and wound healing. After the merge, the research will explore new innovative technology and treatments for medical and cosmetic skin concerns. Beyond the many new benefits granted to patients, Dr. Goldman also mentions, “We support and promote free skin cancer screenings and provide free care to cancer victims undergoing radiation therapy (treating and preventing radiation dermatitis) as well as free tattoo removal of radiation tattoo markers. Finally, on a case-by-case basis, we offer free or discounted care to children with birthmarks and others with traumatic injuries.
” West Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center and West Dermatology Research Center are currently under construction, with plans to open by July1st.
