KNOW YOUR COMMUNITY AND WHAT MAKES IT TICK
Diana Jillie Hill, President, Soroptimist International of La Jolla
Proud matriarch of a fine family and a dedicated leader in an exemplary community.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE A KID?
I aspired to become a cowgirl living on the prairie. When I discovered that the Indians were here first, I decided to grow up as an American Indian. Neither panned out.
HOW DID YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
Through a circuitous route: hospital administration, technology management consulting, pharmaceutical sales, and 20 years in marketing and sales for Hewlett-Packard. Following that, I founded and ran Executive Organizing Consultants for 10 years. My final paid position was a Fashion consultant for Jockey International. Today, I’m a professional volunteer.
YOU GET STRANDED ON AN ISLAND. WHAT TWO THINGS COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
A 501(c)3 organization and my humorous, resourceful husband.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR LINE OF WORK?
Living my dream to make a difference for women and girls. As President of Soroptimist International of La Jolla, I lead a dedicated team to fight human trafficking and help women veterans succeed.
WHERE’S YOUR FAVORITE VACATION DESTINATION?
Fiji, hands down. The people are warm, the vistas (above and under water) are gorgeous, and we can get there overnight!
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
Art, music, photography. Cinema. Documentaries. Travel. Adventures. Fashion. Family. Not in that order.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU EVERY DAY?
Every morning I’m grateful for my loved ones and my good health. When the sun shines, a crystal ornament casts moving rainbows all over the walls. It fills me with hope.
